Free Plant ID From a Photo

A no-account plant identifier for common North American garden plants. The photo is read in your browser, then re-ranked by what is plausible for your place and season.

Identify from a photo

Start with a clear leaf, flower, or fruit photo. The answer is a short candidate list, not a single overconfident guess.

Local clues matter

The browser model scores the photo against plant candidates. A home almanac can add the part most photo apps miss: what actually grows in your region this month. A June milkweed photo in Ontario should not be judged the same way as a January houseplant photo in Arizona.

Plant ID questions

Does my plant photo upload anywhere?

No. The identification runs in your browser, and the local seasonal prior uses coordinates only in this browser when you choose to share your place.

Why show three candidates?

A photo can hide the exact leaf, flower, scale, or stem detail needed for a confident answer. Three candidates are more honest and make lookalikes visible.

What should I photograph?

Use a bright close photo of leaves, flowers, fruit, or stems. One plant filling most of the frame gives the best result.
